MATRIMONY

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” (CCC 1601)

Engagement

Congratulations!  Our Tri-Parish community is dedicated to making this time for marriage preparation an experience that will be beneficial and one that will remain with you through the years. Your decision to enter into the relationship of married life is a serious one, and serves as a wonderful sign of hope and strength to our faith community. While your decision has been reached only after much discussion and prayerful thought, it is but the first step in the process of building a successful marriage. The love you have privately come to realize and share is now made public as your family, friends, and parish prepare to support and encourage you in the celebration of your wedding. Engagement is a special time – a time of love and preparation. It should be a happy time, a time for enjoying each other and storing up precious memories. It is a time of richer dialogue, greater trust and fuller sharing of your deepest and most personal values. It is a time for reflection and prayer.

Marriage Preparation

Because the Catholic Church and your parish community wants couples to form strong, lasting marriages, all engaged couples wishing to marry at one of the Tri-Parishes are required to:

  • Contact the pastor, Fr. Paul (920) 918-7021 at least six, but preferably twelve, months before the wedding to set an initial appointment and to start the marriage preparations at your parish.

  • Participate in the Tri-Parish marriage preparation program called FOCCUS.

  • Attend an approved Engaged Day of Enrichment at least three prior to the wedding.

  • Additional steps may be necessary, and will be discussed as your marriage preparation begins.

Weddings

Weddings at the Tri-Parish churches are typically performed early on a Saturday afternoon.  Other times and days can also be arranged.   Your wedding ceremony can be done within a Mass setting, or at a separate ceremony, outside of Mass.   This will be discussed and decided early in your marriage preparation process.

Contact Fr. Paul (920) 918-7021 at least six months, but preferably twelve months, before your planned wedding date to set an initial appointment and to start the marriage preparation process.
