Children’s Liturgy of the Word genrally takes place after the opening prayer of the Mass.  Children ages 4 and up are dismissed to listen to and discuss the Sunday's readings from the Children’s Lectionary, which is easier for them to understand.  They return to the church to join their families at the time of the collection.
